B visa

Non-Immigrant B visa for work and business in Thailand

Starting a job or a business in Thailand? We coordinate the B visa with your employer or company, then support the work permit, extensions and reporting.

Quick answer

The Non-Immigrant B visa is for people who will work or do business in Thailand. It is tied to a company or employer, and you need a separate work permit to work legally. The B visa lets you enter and stay, and the work permit lets you work.

Work in Thailand is regulated by two things at once: your visa and your work permit. They are separate documents issued by separate offices, and both must match your employer and your job.

We coordinate both sides. We work with your employer or your company documents, prepare the B visa application and then guide the work permit and extension steps so your status remains valid.

This is for you if

  • You have a job offer from a Thai company.
  • You are starting a company or joining as a director or business partner.
  • You work for a BOI-promoted company and want the correct visa route.
  • You want one team to coordinate visa, work permit and reporting.

This may not fit if

  • You work remotely for a foreign employer. Look at the DTV visa instead.
  • You only visit for short business meetings. A tourist or business-visit route may be enough; ask us.

How the B visa process works

  1. 1

    Pre-check with employer details

We review your role, your employer or company and your nationality, and confirm the correct route.

  2. 2

    Company and personal documents

We prepare your personal file and list what the company must provide.

  3. 3

    Visa application

We guide the B visa submission with the supporting papers from the employer.

  4. 4

    Work permit and extension

After arrival, the work permit and the extension of stay are coordinated so both match.

B visa and work permit are two different documents

The B visa lets you enter and stay in Thailand for work purposes. The work permit is issued separately and lets you perform specific work for a specific employer. Working without a permit, or in a different role than the permit shows, can lead to fines and problems with your visa. More in our guide on who needs what.

Company requirements

The employer must be a properly registered company that meets the requirements for hiring foreign staff. If you are starting your own company, our company registration and BOI support prepares the legal side first.

Extensions and 90-day reporting

B visa stays are extended with supporting papers from the employer. While you remain in Thailand, you also complete your 90-day report. We track these dates for you.

Typical documents

Requirements depend on the company and your role. Most files include:

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months
  • Passport photos
  • Employment contract or invitation from the Thai employer
  • Company registration documents from the employer
  • Educational and professional certificates, where requested
  • Medical or police certificates where the embassy requires them

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Starting work before the work permit is issued.
  • Mismatch between the job title in the contract and in the permit.
  • Leaving company documents until the last minute.
  • Missing the extension deadline because the employer handles it late.
